Easy Piña Colada Recipe
Did you know that a Puerto Rican pirate named Roberto Colfresí served a coconut-pineapple-rum concoction in order to raise morale among his swashbuckling crewman? True story.
This happens to be one of my favorite summer time drinks! Enjoy!
Easy Piña Colada Recipe
Created in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in the 1950s, this is a longstanding classic. While it can be made with a variety of rums—dark, aged, spiced, white, coconut—I like using a combination, but feel free to use whatever rums you like.
Ingredients
- 3 ounces coconut cream
- 3 ounces pineapple juice
- 2 ounces aged or dark rum
- 2 ounces coconut rum
- 2 cups of ice
- Splash of coconut milk (optional)
- 1 cup diced pineapple, frozen (optional)
- Pineapple wedge, for garnish optional)
Instructions
-
Combine all the ingredients in a blender. Blend on High until smooth.
-
Pour contents into a tiki glass or tall glass.
-
Garnish with the pineapple wedge.
Recipe Notes
NOTES: Freezing the ingredients first means you can use less ice, leading to a more flavorful, less diluted drink.
